"Managed by other" state means that this UAP is managed by another Controller. It could be a different physical server or the same machine with a previous Controller installation.
If you have re-installed (or manually updated) the UniFi Controller and you saved the "Configuration File" (Admin - "Download Backup Settings"), you can restore it using the Restore option (UniFi Controller - Admin) and the UAPs will be back to "Connected" state.
If you didn't save the "Configuration File", you will need to reset the UAP(s) to default values. There are a couple of ways to do that:
- If you know the previous controller's username and password, you can use the UniFi Discovery Tool to reset the units to default values using the "Reset" button.
- If you don't know the previous Controller's username and password, please hold the UAP's reset button for 15 seconds. The reset button is located next to the device's Ethernet port, and you can press it using a paper clip.
Finally, the unit should appear in your Controller's AP tab as "Pending", then "Adopt" the unit. If this does not work, please use UniFi Discovery Tool and Adopt the unit twice.
